River Godavari @ Godavarikhani

The important rivers in the district are Godavari and Maneru. Godavari enters into Karimnagar district at Kandakuri and flows through the north and east boundaries of the district.

River Godavari passing across godavarikhani is the major drinking water resource for the surrounding villages and towns. This river is also a major resource for agriculture and industries like NTPC and Singareni Collieries in the town.

This river is located at a distance of 3 KM's from local bus station. Sources to reach this place are auto rickshaws and district buses heading towards mancherial.

River Godavari originates in Trimbakeshwar, its a place of Tri-Sandhya Gayatri, the birth place of Lord Ganesha, a place of the first Nath of Nath Sampradaya consisting of Gorakhnath and others, a place where Nivrittinath was made to imbibe the holy knowledge by his Guru Gahininath, a place where Nivrittinath made his brothers and sister attain the self by his preaching. This is the holiest place to perform Shraddha ceremony. Nirnaya Sindhu - a religious book of Hindus, mentions that this place, where Sahyadri mountain and Godavari river exist is very purifying on the whole earth and is therefore very important for performing Shraddha ceremony.
