Project Title

Designation and Work Description

“Improving Health Services and Health Status – An action Research” project,

Seva Mandir, Udaipur

Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) at MIT looked after Monitoring and Evaluation of the program

 

 

Interventions:

1.      Improving Immunisation Status,

2.      Decentralised Iron Fortification Program: Increasing dietary intake of Iron through fortification of flour at village level chakkis (flour mills),

3.      Improving Subcentres Reliability, and

4.      Chlorination of open wells.

Project Coordinator:

·  Implementation of community based health interventions in 134 villages of 5 blocks in Udaipur district (Design: Randomised Control Trails).

·  Budget planning for the interventions

·  Working out a strategy for implementation of the programs,

·  Holding training programs for the teams involved in the different interventions,

·  Conducting awareness generation meetings in the intervention villages,

·  Implementing and Monitoring the interventions

·  Resolving field level issues by involving community people,

·  Working payment system for the community people involved in the programs,

·  Maintaining production and supply chain in fortification & immunization intervention,

·  Holding monthly review meetings with teams involved in the program (GNM, GNM Assistant, Paraworkers, Chakki Owners, and Government ANMs),

·  Liaison with District level Government Functionaries,

·  Planning, preparing and facilitating the District core committee meetings (Members include District Collector, Joint Director, CM&HO, Seva Mandir & JPAL - MIT),

·  Coordinating with the evaluation teams (JPAL-MIT/Vidya Bhavan) and funding organizations (TATA Trust, ICCO & MacArthur Foundation),

·  Working with Management Systems Information (USA) & Population Foundation of India for upscaling the programs (holding workshops, interacting with Govt. functionaries, NGOs and other stakeholders)

·  Documentation and report writing on the progress of the interventions

·  Maintaining MIS for all the interventions

Trainee:

·  Had an exposure of three months towards the management of Primary Health Centre (PHC) under Public-Private-Partnership and delivery of Primary Health Care Services in tribal areas, Which includes national health programmes like Immunisation, Family Planning, Safe Motherhood, RNTCP, Malaria Control, Mental Health, etc.

·  Field attachment with ANM, Staff Nurse, Pharmacy, Laboratory, De-Addiction Centre and Canteen helped to develop skills in basic health care practices.

·  Visits to Anganwadi centers provided me an understanding towards ICDS work.

·  Conducted group works among the school children and old age people to monitor & educate regarding various health issues.

Hospital Performance Analysis, APVVP (Andhra Pradesh Vaidhya Vidhan Parishad),

Project Coordinator:

·  Collection of data from APVVP head quarter for 156 hospitals and analysis of the hospital statistics,

·  Planning & coordination of field staff and field visits,

·  Validating the information from the field,

·  Report writing of the field visits made to various hospitals and

·  Interacting with the hospital staff & understanding about the PHC activities and rapport building with the Medical Officers, etc.

Data Validation and Periodic Analysis of Hospital Performance, Maharashtra Health Systems Development Project,

·  Pilot study to Thane and Murbad hospitals in Maharashtra to understand the MIS,

Drought Relief Measures Taken up by Andhra Pradesh Government, UNICEF,

TARU, Hyderabad

Junior Consultant:

·  The mission carried out field visits to 6 districts in Andhra Pradesh for primary and secondary data collection on the drought relief work done by various government departments.

·  Field visit to a village in each district to understand the implementation of relief activities at grass root level.

Junior Consultant:

·  The work consists of primary and secondary data collection from Hyderabad, Medak and Nalgonda districts.

·  Field visit to meet the health officials at district level and ANMs at subcentre level to understand the cold chain and immunisation system.

Socioeconomic Impact Assessment Study as Part of the Andhra Pradesh Power Sector Restructuring Program, DFID & A.P. Transco,

·  Involved in a vast study on field in 7 districts of Andhra Pradesh (rural and urban areas),

·  Interviewed around 200 people to understand their socioeconomic status as well as collected the feedback regarding the restructuring process of the power sector.

Community Survey under Hyderabad Waste Management Project by AusAid & APPCB,

·  Work involved a large number of interviews of household members residing in the industrial belt,

·  Finding out the current health problems faced by the community people due to exposure towards the pollution created by industries, and
