Godavarikhani, a  city  on the banks of river Godavari is an Industrial centre and the  surrounding region is mainly agricultural area on the Deccan Plateau, and is drained by the Godavari River. This place is also familiar with names Ramagundam and Jyothinagar. The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) in Godavarikhani is the biggest thermal power plant, generates power supply for the state of Andhra Pradesh and to the neighbouring states . Coal is the major natural resource available here. Singareni Colleries Company Ltd. (SCCL)   is the Mining Industry which extracts the coal.   Fertilizer Corporation of India (FCI) and Kesoram Cement Factory - Basanth Nagar are the other major industries.
